Hello GLUB Club!
June Meeting will be 6/28/23 | 7:30PM at Bills Best Brewery in Glenside, we hope to see you there.
We are hopefully going to have T Shirts and Hoodies in hand for this meeting. The order has been submitted to North Penn Custom Tees. If you have not yet ordered one, please do so immediately so maybe I can add yours on. If worse comes to worse, we can distribute at the meeting in July or we can meet up for a beer one weekend and exchange shirts.
Last month we had a guest speaker, Dr. Roger Barth who presented on FOAM. We were promised a presentation on water chemistry, and got a curveball, so let's talk about water chemistry as a group! We will discuss basic and best practices, softwares for calculating mineral additions, how to get local water reports what those minerals do, and how you can improve your beer by just a couple extra steps. Water is one of the most important ingredients in beer, so why not talk about your brewing water?
For this month's feature, let's talk LAGER! Summer is coming, granted it is not the time to brew lager beer at home if you do not temperature control, but let's look at some commercial examples and show one another the vast variety of lagers that exist in this world. Bring in 2 cans or bottles of your favorite lager and let's talk about them! Who knows, you may find your perfect lawnmower beer at this meeting.
Also, if you went to Imperial Yeast and did not get a tour, we are going to reach out to them to reschedule. Stay tuned for that and more.
It is also summer, we should look into doing some meet-ups outside of the meeting, group brew days and brewery trips. I also want to try and schedule a group brew day at Artifact where we can come together on a recipe (Saison perhaps) and spend the day up there together brewing a batch. It's a far cry from homebrewing, but the spirit of experimentation is there still!
